New Projects Underway

I was able to do a few small Christmas projects today. Funny how much of a mess I made when all I did was make a few little things. Right when I get the house cleaned too. (Smile*)

A Two Year Old Saves My Life

So this week has been filled with nothing but the same from last week... SICK SICK SICK. Ethan has some other cold that brought back the asthma. Did you know that it is really hard to hold an 18 month old down, put a mask on his face, hold it there for 6 breaths, and expect the inhaler to actually work? So we were in the doctors office 3 times last week. But, today we went to the allergist to have him tested for more food allergies. Praise God that he doesn't have anymore than the egg and slight allergy to tree nuts. Nothing is life threatening.

Dave went to the doctor yesterday because of stomach pain. It has been on going for 4 weeks now. The doctor says that there is something there but he is not sure what. The first thing they did is get blood work done. Then, he has to take a prescription for two weeks (just in case it is stomach problems). He also has another appointment in two weeks.

My foot is just getting better. For family who doesn't know, I got stung by a bee in Mom and Dad's garden. It was my own fault for wearing flip flops out in the garden. I had a reaction to it and my foot was swollen for a couple of days. A week later, my foot itched so bad! I was at my friend's house and was asking her about it. I thought it was athletics foot or something. We were celebrating my friend's son's 2nd birthday. While he was outside playing he got stung by a bee. So we were trying to see what we could give him to help with the pain by reading the manual that the clinic gives parents. My friend said, "Jen, I think you need to call the doctor right now. I think your bee sting is infected." Joanne says that if it wasn't for Jonathan getting stung by a bee I would of still been treating my foot for athletics foot and died." All I have to say is that kid is so awesome. For the record, he was more brave than I was when I got stung.

Eloise vs. Madeline

So, if you live in this community, do you ever read the Our Town Monthly that comes in the mail? I love to look at the upcoming events (which I realized when I finally got to sit down and read this month's that I missed the Stayton Library Book Sale). Boo.

I love reading Madeline Lau's article. She's going to be a sophomore in college. I started reading her article when she was still in high school. I love reading her casual journalism. She just talks about what means the most to her. Simple reading is sometimes great.

She wrote an article about visiting her sister in New York City. You can read it at http://ourtownlive.com/ourtownsantiam/?p=79. I was sad when I saw the picture below in the article with the caption "Madeline Lau, left, her grandmother, mother and sister, Megan, pose at New Your City's Plaza Hotel by a painting of Madeline, the adventurous character of children's literature who lived in the hotel."

Why? Cause that's not Madeline! That is Eloise! So, I had to write the newspaper (of course) and break Madeline's heart that she was mistaken and that she missed the opportunity of taking a real picture of Madeline in a mural painted by the author at New York's Carlyle Hotel. So sad.

Five Ways To Become A Jedi Master

It was 9pm and Dave was already in bed. So, instead of making a larger mess on our dinning table I made a layout on the laptop while Dave slept.

Untitled

Have you ever seen artwork named "Untitled." A lot of my work in my art classes were named that. Mostly because I couldn't think of a good enough name. When I look at these finished pieces I think they need names. What do you think? Comment with any good ones!

Guess which one the blond smoking a pipe is made for? Shhh! No telling!

Sneak Peak

Ethan is sick and so during his morning nap (longer than usual) I worked on two new pieces. Here they are drying with the diamond-glaze over top of the image. I was thinking that maybe my family didn't know how much time it takes to make one of their presents. So later today or tonight I will post the step by step process in making one...

Our Little Boy

Simply Swank

Yesterday, I was at Craft Warehouse getting beads for my previous project post and I found this new product that I have never seen before (probably because I never go in the bead department). It is totally awesome! Like I need another hobby?! Don't worry, I didn't get it. But, you have to take a look at http://simplyswank.net/! It is a charm solder art kit. While I was just looking I found these awesome images (http://simplyswank.net/people?b=1) and had to have them! I am always on the look out for vintage clip art to use in my projects.

I got started on a few projects today and I love them. Leave a comment to tell me what you think.

Anne-athon

When I got home from the "Anne-athon" I couldn't sleep. I just kept on thinking that the last movie in the series seemed a total farce. So, I jumped out of bed, ran upstairs, and pulled out The Anne of Green Gables Treasury. My grandfather bought me this book for Christmas or my birthday one year and it means a lot to me since he is now at home with the Lord...

Anyway, I know I am a little late in watching the film because it was made in 2000. But, I looked it up and I was right! First of all Anne was born in 1866. She then married Gibert in 1891 (are you doing the math?). World War I began in 1914 (remember she's Canadian). So, when World War I ended Anne was 52 years old! Come on now... can we be a little realistic?!
