December Daily: December 9

I was so tired after staying up until 1am finishing up the first volume to the Genealogy album. I wanted to finish it since today was the last day to get 30% off and free shipping. But, alas, it is so cold today that our internet server was down across Oregon and Washington. I was thankful that it came on at 10pm! Two hours before the deadline! Whoohoo! That's calling it close.

After dragging myself out of bed, Ethan and I had a good time at school. Ethan created ornaments for Uncle Bill, Bill & Barbara Grinder, and Uncle John.

December Daily: Day 8

Today we had a good time making our own wrapping paper. Ethan painted white paper with red paint. After it dried Ethan helped wrap grandma and grandpa's presents. Ethan is now walking around the house singing "Jingle Bells" and "Silent Night."

December Daily - Day 7

Dave took me to get my birthday present from the photography shop - the scanner that Dad bought me!
It takes so long to get there that we stopped at the basket slough. It was nice to see a little bit of wildlife while we ate lunch in the car. Then we got out so Ethan could run and burn some energy. Ummm... it was even colder than the day before! So, five minutes later we headed home!

It was nice that Dave took pictures of our Christmas chain because today Ethan tore the whole thing down besides day 24 and 25. Smart kid. ;)

December Daily: Day 6

Today was so much fun, even though I forgot to bring the camera! Today at church, I forgot to turn off my phone. So, right in the middle of announcements, Dave is talking in the microphone and my phone rings! I caught it really quick, but everyone started laughing and Dave cracked a joke about his wife leaving her phone on in church. Then a minute later everyone laughs again when the phone makes noise letting me know I have a voice mail. During the prayer, I turned it off. It was just Lisa calling to let me know that the birthday party was at 2pm.

After service was the church potluck and it was fun to sit with friends and chat. Ethan was able to eat a bit. After having a mouth full of apple he decided he didn't want to swallow it. Dave let him spit it out in his hand and Dave put it on his plate. About fifteen minutes later, Dave screams out! He forgot about the apple and thought it was stuffing and ATE it! Ha! I laughed so hard. So did everyone at our table since they all say Ethan spit it out in the first place!

After the potluck, we went to the birthday party for Lisa and Jeremy. The whole family was there (besides Mom, Jessica and Heather). It was a blessing to see Jeremy so happy. It was a really good time. We had the party at Mom and Dad so that Dave's allergies wouldn't bother him with the animals at Lisa's house. Jeremy and John worked on Jeremy's new army that he is going to paint. I enjoyed watching them do it together.

December Daily: Day 5

Well, today started out wonderful! I ate breakfast reading today's 12 Tags of Christmas and I found out that I won one of the prizes given away today! Talk about super excited; I mean there were 3317 comments on yesterday's post!!

Becca and Josh came over to take Ethan and I to town. It was a nice surprise and well needed since we have been home-bound for a week. Josh took us to a local scrapbook store that announced this week that they were closing their doors. So, we went and said our good-byes.

After lunch and the mall, we took Ethan to a local park and had him burn off all the energy he had stored up for the last week! It was cold but a good time. We met Dave afterwards on his way home from work and went home together as a family. What a blessed day!

Becca took these pictures and I was able to edit them tonight! Thanks Becca!

December Daily: Day 4

Today we did this awesome science experiement and made "the Bethlehem night sky." We used a box and punched holes in it with a pencil. On the other side we cut a hole for the flashlight to shine through. We had to go into the guest bathroom and close the door since that was the only room in the house without windows. When I turned on the flashlight it was so beautiful we both gasped. It looked almost like snowflakes on the wall. It was a sweet moment.

I also gave Ethan crepe paper streamers to dance to Mary Rice Hopkins' "Glory" song. It was so sweet to see Ethan dancing. We just danced. I praised God like David did. It was lovely to be able to do that all over the house. ;)

We also did The Candy Cane Parable today which went over really well... if you can imagine. Ethan had never had a candy cane before today. He loves it. It is going to be interesting to see how long they last on the tree.

December Daily: Day 3

Today was one day in a million. School that was three of us is now going to be two again. It was hard to explain to Ethan but I think it will take time for him to understand. He did notice that he got Mom all to himself again and maybe that's what he needed. It was the first good day in probably six months. Throughout the day he did the games, calendar, pledges, and it was the first time he sang the songs with me. It was priceless...

We painted Bethlehem cities with blocks and sprayed white paint with a toothbrush to make the stars. We read a story about Christ's birth. We took a walk in the stroller all bundled up to the library (since my car has been broken for a month). We snuggled during rest time watching a movie about Christmas. Ethan made all his Christmas presents for the family. He made two Christmas cards and I made five. In fact, we had such a blast that I didn't get a photo at all.

It was Ethan's first day taking a day off the Christmas chain, so I will use that picture when I get it. ;)

December Daily: December 2

It was an eventful day, to say the least. The kids enjoyed the new Christmas songs and the Bible story. Their eyes did get big though when I put Mary's puppet on my hand. She is quite frightful. But, I told them that she was "a lot prettier than this in real life" and tried to flatten her hair a bit and they smile, laughed, and I could continue. But, it must of been the long holiday because they were done trying by 10:30.

It was time to get ready to go home when Ethan needed to use the potty. While I was trying to get his clothes on my nose, for no reason, started to bleed! So, I am trying to get his pants on while not tipping my head because it is pouring! Oh my... did you know it can't be done? Then, Terron had to use the bathroom. I am trying to help him and get Ethan's pants on while my nose is bleeding. I finally rush to get a paper towel to put under my upper lip (great trick to stop the bleeding) when I notice that Tiffany has been sitting in her car waiting! Ahhh! She totally understood when she saw me. ;)

So, after rest time I got out the paint and paper to make our Christmas chain, a family tradition. I decided to use foam stamps and white paint this year. I thought it would be fun for Ethan to stamp to his heart's content. When I opened the stamps, which had never been used, I realized that number six was missing and I had two number eights! My foam stamps have been packed in a box in the attic for three years, so there was no way I was going to dig to find another set. So we are without a number six and sixteen.

Anyway, it was quite the job to have Ethan paint with the stamps. I guess everything is extreme with him right now. So, why would today or this moment be any different? When it was done and dried he picked the place to hang it - right by the front door. But, give him half and hour and the chain was down and as I rushed to his side he was kicking and crushing it. Thankfully it is not too bad and hanging up again.

I didn't get a photo today because of the mayhem but I will be sure to get Ethan taking a link of the chain for this entry!

December Daily: December 1

Today begins December Daily! Can't wait to get started! Today I braved the attic and pulled down the Christmas tree and decorations. I realized that I don't have many "decorations" for the home but loads for the tree. Ethan was very excited to decorate the tree. So excited that he managed to be unable to control himself and either stepped on or kicked everything he could find. I had all the safe ornaments for him to place on the tree lined up on the sofa. He put the first one on and I got a great close up shot of that. (photo to come) Then, I let him get another. I turned my back for a second to grab an ornament for myself. What do you think I saw when I turned around? Yep, he had an ornament in his mouth and good thing it wasn't fragile. He had sunk his teeth into a Styrofoam ornament. The first ornament Becca ever gave me years ago. It wasn't too sentimental which was good (no offence to Becca). ;) The rest of the day was spent training Ethan not to destroy the tree...

Simple Pleasures!

We have all been fighting the flu in our home for the last week. Even though we are all sick, nothing can keep me from jumping up and down from excitement at the new collaboration that Becca and I were involved with talented hybrid scrapbook artist, Michelle Filo! Check out Create Often for more details...
